Amie Carrington
Domestic Violence Action Centre

Amie Carrington, CEO, DVAC

Amie is passionate about people and community and providing quality services to reduce the impact and prevalence of gender-based violence. As the CEO for the Domestic Violence Action Centre, Amie leads a specialist domestic, family and sexual violence service, working across the lifespan with people experiencing and using violence. DVAC provides supports to 9,000 people per annum across a broad geographical region of urban and regional areas of South East Queensland, with centres in Ipswich and Toowoomba.

Amie’s collaborative and compassionate leadership style has supported our teams at DVAC to respond to changing community needs and service demands, with increasing volume, complexity and risk. Amie has incorporated change management principles to ensure DVAC’s successful services continuity through significant weather events and flooding and the COVID pandemic. DVAC systems, practice framework and organisational culture has embedded a ‘women and children first’ foundation which is both feminist and trauma informed.
